Carlos Andres Guzmán
Trumpet | General Director
He was born in the city of Barquisimeto, Venezuela in the year 1984. He inherits from its Father José Rojas (violinist of mariachi music) its talent and passion for the music. It begins at the age of 7 its studies of music and solfa with the Italian Teacher Giuseppe Ferlita, 9 years after trumpet in the conservatory of music of Barquisimeto. At the age of 9 it begins with the trumpet with the same Teacher Ferlita. At the age of 10 he studies with the Teacher Andrés Díaz (Trumpeter).
At the age of 12 there joins to the mariachi music Guadalajara Brass de José King. Then at its 14 years Sol de América de Jairo Rojas is part of the Mariachi music along with its brothers Jairo and Alberto. At its 17 years he travels to the United States to the city of Miami along with its older brother Jairo, with the goal to develop musical and improve its musical skills managing to take individual music lessons from accomplished musicians in the Mexican genre.
In the city of Miami, he joins Mariachi music Tequila 2000. In the year 2004, while being a member of Mariachi Fiesta Grande, he shared stages in Grandes Festivales, televised by Univisión Network, with the Mariachi Vargas, Mariachi Los Camperos, Mariachi Cobre, Mariachi Reinas de Los Ángeles and Mariachi Sol de México. From 2005 to 2009 he played with Mariachi Mexico Internacional performing with international artists, latin soap operas and tv shows in Univisión like Sabado Gigante, El Gordo y La Flaca, Don Francisco Presenta, Despierta America, and Escandalo TV.
As a member of Mariachi Mexico Internacional, he recorded in an albums by José Luis Rodríguez "El Puma" songs by José Alfredo Jiménez. He also recorded in album by Marco Flores. During the same period, he is invited by Kike Santander to record a trumpet solo in the song Perdóneme Señora recorded by Pablo Montero. Univisión's producer, Valdi Machado, invites him to record the music theme for Replica Deportiva with mariachi music. In the year 2010 he establishes himself in the city of Houston TX, where he has worked with several mariachi bands from the city. In 2011 he finally decides to create his own Mariachi.
Today at 30 years of age he has established a outstanding music career and is general director of Mariachi Origen y Tradicion, in which he reflects his commitment to the highest professional standards in all its performances. He has guided the way for Mariachi Origen y Tradicion to become Houston's best mariachi band, launching the Mexican genre to higher stages while being thankful to God for helping him accomplish his dreams.
CARLOS ANDRES GUZMAN
He was born in the city of Ibagué Colombia in the year 1986. At a very early age his parents noticed his inclination towards music. It grew up in a town called the Guamo (Tolima) where at the age of 10 he enters Batuta Music School. In that school he learned percussion instruments and took violin classes. He continued its music development in the town's local band under the direction of Carlos Galindo, while he was in that band he took firsts classes of music theory and pick up the trumpet as main instrument, taking part town's band in several festivals and contests in the region.
Looking to become a better musician he travels the city of Ibagué, where he took classes at the conservatory music school. Then he travels at the edge of 17 to the city of Bogota, the capital of Colombia. He studies at Audio Fernando Sor's music school technique in audio and sound.
In the year 2006 he meets music teachers Zeynel Díaz, Dayhan Díaz and Orlando Barreda who helped him develop discipline and technique with its instrument. During this time with the help of Zeynel Díaz he has the opportunity to meet renowned music teacher Wilfrido Vargas and his daughter Alina Vargas. In the year 2009 he travels to Cuba where he received classes one on one classes with Carmelo, first trumpet of Charanga Habanera band. After this musical experience in Cuba, in the year 2010 he returns to Colombia where he joins Alina Vargas' band taking part in several tv shows and orchestra performances.
In the year 2011 he obtained a quota in Universidad Central en Estudios Musicales with emphasis in trumpet. There he completes 6 music semesters. He performs as trumpeter in the reality shows of The Voice Colombia which had very high ratings in the country. At the same time he worked at a renowned bar El Sitio de la Capital Bogotana. He has interest in diverse music genres but he was always been specially keen to folk mexican music. The work of artists like Alfredo Jiménez, Vicente Fernández, Pedro Infante, and others have had a strong influence in his music taste.
When he joins Mariachi Atahualpa, he gets his first experience as a mariachi band member. Later on he is also part of Mariachi America from the city of Cali, and he also performs with Mariachi Perla and Mariachi Mexico de Noche. In 2014 looking for new horizons and trying to develop his skills as a mariachi player, he decided to move to Houston Texas, where he worked with several Mariachi bands in the city.
Today he is part of renowned Mariachi Origen y Tradicion de Alfredo Rojas where it has displayed his outstanding skills as the second trumpet of the band.
Marco Salgado was born in the city of Morelia, Michoacán in Mexico. At age of five he and his family migrated to the city of Houston, Texas. It was there where he developed his passion for music and violin studies.
He began training in classical music at High School for Performing and Visual Arts ( HSPVA ). His interest in music led him to the genre of mariachi music. He first performed with junior mariachi bands to later join Mariachi Origen y Tradicion where he has played among renowned artists such as Beatriz Adriana , Yolanda del Rio , Jenni Rivera, Lupillo Rivera and even Pepe Aguilar.
Marco remains dedicated to his music studies. He has attended several conferences as musical Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza and Mariachi Nationals, where he received the Lewis & Son Violin Award for his outstanding performance.
Currently, Marco studies Sound Engineering in Houston Community College and is dedicated to compose arrangements and recording in Digital Red Studio with the collaboration of Alfredo Rojas. In his spare time Marco enjoys studying, violin, music theory, and voice technique.
MARIA NEREIDA SANDOVAL
Born in Durango Mexico, she moved at the age of six to Houston, TX. It is in Crockett Elementary where he began formal music studies. Later on she entered the Multicultural Education and Counseling Through the Arts ( MECA ) school with teacher Alfonzo War to continue his violin and mariachi music studies. Her motivation led her to audition to Johnston High School where she was accepted and was part of the school's orchesta and mariachi band. She was also recognized as the best mariachi student in 2000. Simultaneously, she participated in the congress Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza, as a member of MECA's mariachi, where she took first place for here performance.
Later on she studied classical music in High School for Performing and Visual Arts ( HSPVA ) performing in New York, and the Olympic Winter Games in Utah as part of the school's orchestra. She also performs in Encuentro Internacional del Mariachi in in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico. Through her career she has played along renowned artists such as Beatriz Adriana, Pablo Montero, Yolanda del Rio, Jenny Rivera, Lola la Trailera, Pepe Aguilar, and Irma Infante.
Mary got a bachelor of music education at Houston Baptist University . Currently, she is teaching violin at an elementary school. She is also an important member of Mariachi Origen y Tradicion where she continuously gains sympathy with her notes.
Violin | Music Director
He was born in Teziutlan, Puebla, Mexico on May 31, 1963. As a child he always listened to his father and grandfather playing the violin. The love for music and the violin was in his blood as it was part of his daily life. Therefore at the age of ten and after asking persistently, his father took him to with his mariachi band where he started playing his first instrument, the guitar. Made by his dad by the way... which was also a professional carpenter.
Later on he learned to play the guitar and the guitarron. The mariachi was made up of his dad, his uncle, and cousins. At the age of twelve, with the permission from his parents, he was allowed join his uncles and leave for Mexico city... to Plaza Garibaldi. Because his dream was always to be part of the best mariachis in Mexico, he started learning violin, gaining enough experience that not too long after, those dreams became reality.
Success opened many doors for him. At fifteen years of age he was part of a professional mariachi band, Mariachi Metepec for the city of Puebla where he met and played among artists like Lola Beltran , Lucha Villa, Vicente Fernandez, Juan Gabriel, Estela Nuñez among others in local fairs and "palenques".
He met Cutberto Perez when he was 17 years old, whom invited him to join Mariachi 2000 in 1980. There he performed with artists like Luis Miguel, Aida Cuevas, Lucha Villa, Lucero, Alejandro Fernandez, Rocio Banquels, Guadalupe Pineda, Ana Gabriel to name a few. He also performed in TV shows such as Siempre en Domingo, Paco Stanley, and Un Nuevo Dia. He left for Los Angeles California in 1990. He was part of Mariachi Camperos, Mariachi Mexico Internacional, and Mariachi Tlaquepaque. With Mariachi Camperos he performed in multiple occasions with renowned artist Linda Ronstad.
The greatest experience that he enjoyed as a mariachi player was learning Mr. Cutberto Perez who was not only his friend but a father figure who guided and helped him join the Musicians Union of Mexico city in which acquired vast musical experience.
Sebastian Alfredo Orozco
Born 1996 in Houston, Texas. From an early age he showed interest in music participating in various music festivals. He began studying voice technique and piano at the age of 5 at Durffee Music School in the city of Houston.
At 6 he was accepted to join the Houston Children's Choir Boy Choir at the University of Houston. He was part of HBC during 2006-2008. It was also during this time that he sang the US national anthem during the opening ceremony of the first soccer game of the Houston Texas Reliant Stadium. In 2010 he won first place in a national level festival in the city of Nashville performing a solo. In May 2010 he was invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York City . That same year he auditioned for Choir and Mariachi at the prestigious High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston Texas. He was accepted in both music programs, choosing Mariachi music over Choir. He studied for 4 years in that art school participating and performing in numerous festivals.
While at High School for the Performing Arts he also performed with the Mariachi Vargas, Mariachi de Nati Cano and Jose Hernandez's Mariachi Sol de Mexico. He also had particular lessons with Agustín González an outstanding teacher who taught him how to play the vihuela instrument. He was part of several mariachis bands from Houston with whom he made guest appearances in the Houston Rodeo in 2013 and 2014. Today it is part of Alfredo Rojas' renowned Mariachi Origen y Tradicion seeking to gain more experience and consolidate his career in this music genre.
He was born on July 2, 1986 in Mexico City. Son of Pedro Garcia ( el hijin ) who though him his first music lessons at the age of 11 with a stradivarius violing he brought from New York. In 1998 he joined the Escuela Libre de Música from Mexico City as training for the entrance exam to the Conservatoria Nacional de Música which he fails in 1999. He is later accepted to the Ollin Yoliztli Cultural Center in the south part of Mexico city, becoming its home studio for the next three years through the guidance of great masters such as Alejandro Motta, Enrique Monterrey, and Jaime Turrubiates among others.
In 2002 he and his father move to Atlanta GA, where Christian takes his first steps in the genre of mariachi music joining Mariachi Perla Serrana of his uncle Ricardo García and a lineup mostly made up of the García family members. In 2006 he joined Jesus Godinez's Mariachi Son de Mexico. Shortly after he and his friends Ramon Garcia and Luis Gutierrez created Mariachi Estrella Juvenil, adventure that lasted for 2 years. In 2009 he joins Mariachi Espuelas de America of Agustín García. By 2011 he was invited by Raul Medina to join Mariachi Emperadores de Mexico from Houston, Texas. Seeking new horizons and new learning experiences, he accepts the invitation and moves to Houston TX where he currently resides.
In 2014 after nearly three years under Raul Medina's Emperadores de Mexico, Christian joins Alfredo Rojas' Mariachi Origen y Tradicion looking for personal and professional growth. Throughout his career Christian Garcia had the fortune to perform along renown artists such as Beatriz Adriana, Leo Dan, Pedro Fernandez, Maribel Guardia, Pablo Montero, Maite Perroni , Yolanda del Río, Diego Verdaguer, the Rivera family, Gilberto Gless, Irma Infante, Manuel Noah and many more. Christian Garcia is known for its cheerful spirit and his constant search for success, which he has found under Mariachi Origen y Tradicion.
Born in the city of Houston Texas, in family of accomplished musicians. From very early age he showed his preference and passion for music.
He began his studies at Reagan High School playing saxophone. Later he moved to the city of Zacatecas in Mexico where he continues his music training. There he joins the Mariachi de la Escuela de Padres Mexicanos. At 14 he returns to Houston TX where he enters the renowned MECCA Music School in which he stands out as a guitarron and accordion player.
He has been part of several mariachi bands and has performed among international artists. Today he is part of Mariachi Origen y Tradicion where he showcases his great talent and versatility and where he seeks to perfect his skills as a mariachi player.
